Red Theater History:

Red Theater- Founded in Lincoln, Nebraska after a bar fight in 2008 (okay, a heated semantic discussion) between Theron Seckington and Aaron Sawyer about the aesthetic virtues of theatre over film (and vice-versa). The collective's first performance was in December 2008 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Gage Wallace took over as Artistic Director in early 2010 before moving to Omaha. Hannah Kurth is the current Artistic Director.

Red Theater Omaha [RTO] was built by founders Gage Wallace and Aaron Sawyer on the enthusiasm of the RTO Artistic Director, Jeremy Short, and the experience of Lincoln founding member, Sara Tangdall. RTO's first performance was in August, 2010. Colin Ferguson became RTO's Artistic Director in August of 2011.

Red Theater Future:

In the summer of 2011, the Red Theater Collectives produced Red Hamlet, a reimagining of Shakespeare's great work, which premiered at the Minnesota Fringe Festival. The Collectives will continue to work together to produce longer plays built upon the body of short works and explorations shared between them.
